Clarke 2010 School Year starts today!

Hello everyone - Welcome back to school!  2010-11 has begun and seriously, could it have been any hotter?  Yikes!  90 degrees would not be my pick for a first day back but then no one asked me.  I thought we lived in Swampscott not Surfaceofthesun. Tomorrow is supposed to be another scorcher -  we won't be digging into those new school clothes quite yet.

So, I thought today looked like the normal orderly chaos that you would expect on a first day.  228 kids and their parents and their bags of school supplies all showed up in one place at the same time in the sweltering heat and everything seemed to work out nicely.   Way to go!

Next week the little kindergartners begin classes on Tuesday and immediately after drop off (sniff sniff) all kindergarten parents are invited to a breakfast put on by the PTA.  Have a cup of coffee and a bite while you regain your composure.  Tissues will be available!

What happened to summer?

Ok. So, it is August 24th and I have no idea what happened to June and July (or the first 23 days of Aug for that matter!).  This supersonic summer flew by and now I find it is time for my girl to enter the first grade.  I know that every parent out there is wondering how in the world their child is about to enter kindergarten (gulp), 1st grade, 2nd, 3rd, 4th?  Huh?  What happened?

I am not quite sure what happened but I do know that school is about to get back in session and life will get back to normal and all this summer craziness will be forgotten.  So get those huge backpacks ready and get those supply lists checked off (oh Fine Tip Mr Sketches where do you hide?).  And on Aug 31 we will all meet back together at school.  A new batch of bright shiny kindergartners will show up the following week.  And the playground will once again become the center of the universe.  The more things change...

Clarke PTA will also be back gearing up for a new year of fun events like the Kindergarten Parent Breakfast.   We have a lot in store with new enrichment programs and cultural arts designed to get our kids excited about learning and to get all the Clarke parents engaged and active in our school!
